Devon Coast Cottages

Book one of our Devon coast cottages and expect a holiday to remember, whether you’re planning a family getaway in summer or a quiet escape for two off-season. Unique in that it’s a county with two contrasting coastlines, the south is home to a bigger range of resorts (Salcombe, Torquay, Dartmouth etc spring to mind) while the north is a little more rugged and off-the-beaten-track.

Scenically, both north and south come up trumps and many stretches of both coastlines are protected by the National Trust or are designated AONBs. A wonderful way to soak up the natural sights is to stride out along the coastal path and many people who book our coastal cottages in Devon are walking enthusiasts. Those of you travelling with little ones, meanwhile, usually laden with buckets and nets, need look no further than the south coast’s crabbing hotspots – Dawlish, Wembury, Dittisham, to name a few. Sailing and snorkelling are popular too, or head inland for outdoor adventures amid the amazing wilderness of Dartmoor National Park.

Along Devon’s north coast expect wonderful wildlife – see puffins on Lundy Island and wild ponies at Exmoor. Atlantic waves mean sweeping rollers great for surfing and other thrilling water sports (try Croyde or Woolacombe). You’ll also find cliff-top golf courses, secluded fishing spots and cycling along the Tarka Trail.

And wherever your holiday rental on the Devon coast may be, you’re never far from small, sleepy villages serving up scrumptious cream teas, historic market towns for shopping, arts and culture, not to mention countless other attractions from historic houses and gardens to award-winning theme parks.
