At Paignton Zoo you will find over 2, 000 animals spread across 80 acres of natural habitat.
Be prepared for all seasons as you adventure around the Zoo to see them as you will journey through six different habitat zones - from the Savannah to the Wetlands.
See our majestic giraffes tower over ostriches, black rhinos and cheetahs in the Savannah, our parakeets, venomous lizards soak up the heat in the dry plains of the desert and our tigers, lions, gibbons, gorillas and orang utans swinging around in our wooded forest.
See pelicans, ducks, flamingos and cranes in the sanctuary of our Wetland; while poison dart frogs, green anacondas, boa constrictors and dwarf caiman can be found in the humid and steamy Tropical Forest.
Our final habitat is our Primley zone, named after the home of the Zoo’s founder. In Primley you can discover our troop of baboons, giant tortoises, crocodiles and owls as well as plants from many different countries including the prehistoric ginkgo plant.
Many of our animals are endangered and as one of the UK’s top zoos it is our mission to help preserve our global wildlife heritage and protect animals from extinction.
We’re part of a worldwide network of zoos which cares for and breeds rare species thanks to visitors who help fund the work. Animals like the Sulawesi crested macaque, the western lowland gorilla and the black rhino are here for a reason.
