TORQUAY UNITED: | Torquay

NEVER mind the Wealdstone Raider - the search is on for the Plainmoor Raver!

Wealdstone's famous fan captured all the headlines last year when his online rants went viral, but now this mystery Gulls fan could bag up to £50, 000 for United.

The Plainmoor Raver has been shortlisted for the best goal celebration in Non-League football this term.

The club's goal against Forest Green Rovers on Boxing Day – and the fan's bizarre celebration in front of the Bristow's Bench tea hut - is one of five goals shortlisted in the finals of Marathonbet's Non-League Challenge. For weeks the bookmaker has been taking entries from non-league clubs up and down the country but today announced the final five now up for public vote.

When voting is over, the winning club will be awarded a £10, 000 partnership with Marathonbet and given all all proceeds, worth up to £40, 000, from a Marathonbet Premier League legends match starring a host of household names with scores of international caps between them.

The winning club can do what they please with the huge cash prize, but Torquay will have to fend off competition from Truro City, Chelmsford, Whitehawk and Wealdstone themselves if they're to win the Non-League challenge and boost their coffers.
