We can't consider an application for a zoo licence unless at least two months notice of the application has been given, details have been published in a local and national newspaper, and a notice (pdf 7.1KB) has been placed at the site.

The Zoo Licensing Act 1981 specifies various conservation measures that must be undertaken by a zoo and these will be attached as zoo conditions (pdf 26KB) to a licence.
North Devon Council can also attach any conditions it deems necessary or desirable for the proper conduct of the zoo. The Secretary of State also issues guidance of standards of practice that zoos should meet, which apply in England.
