Torquay is the ideal venue for family holidays, short breaks, conferences or as a base for exploring South Devon.
Torquay and Torbay coastal illuminations are famous and can be seen across the whole bay. Many of the coast parks, such as Torre Abbey Gardens and Goodrington promenade in Paignton are illuminated and make for a wonderful and relaxing evening stroll before or after dinner. Firework displays can be found through the year and are mainly situated on the sea front along Torquay and Paignton.
On some evenings throughout the year the town will see local carnivals or as in August an early evening display by the Red Arrows.
Pitch and putt at Goodrington and Broadsands is always great fun and a good way to stay fit and see the scenery. Ten pin bowling in Torquay, or bowls on Torquay sea front will keep the whole family occupied. The main leisure centre in Torquay is the Riviera Centre which has lots to do for the whole family.
Pedalos or "canoes" can be hired from most of the large beaches, whilst motor boats can be hired for fishing or pottering around the bay from beaches, harbours and the local river areas.
Local attractions like Paignton Zoo and AMF Bowl are easy to reach by bus or car.
